Wildlife Conservation in Urban Spaces

The former Telekom building, located near the downtown area of Bad Kissingen, has undergone a comprehensive renovation and remains in use as an office and administrative facility. Now renamed "Dienstgebäude Berliner Platz", it accommodates various departments of the district administration, along with the district’s municipal enterprise and the Center for Telemedicine. The updated facade showcases concrete skin panels in the sahara shade, inspired by the warm, earthy tones of nature. Beyond its visual enhancement, the project also prioritizes environmental conservation: specially designed nesting spaces provide chimney swifts with much-needed shelter, as suitable nesting sites in urban areas continue to decline. With this initiative, the city is creating essential habitat for its feathered residents while making a meaningful contribution to wildlife conservation. Photos: Ditz Fejer
