The facade of the PREVIER in Hamburg’s HafenCity balances architectural expression with functional durability. It features a precisely coordinated combination of about 2,645 vertical double-U-profile fins, 2,500 horizontal U-shaped parapet profiles, and roughly 1,500 m² of large-format panels – all made from glassfibre reinforced concrete by Rieder. These elements were produced in six custom-developed shades of red, defined through a multi-step process in collaboration with the architects and the client. Inspired by Hamburg’s Hanseatic brick heritage and built for highest weather resistance, the large-format panels and sculptural 3D elements combine visual depth with functional performance, providing lasting protection against wind and weather. Variably sandblasted surfaces create a lively play of light, texture, and tactility, making the facade a statement of durability, protection, and architectural presence in the urban environment.
