A new urban district is emerging in the west of Hamburg’s HafenCity. With the office building designed by HENN, another architectural milestone has been achieved. The new development is conceived as a small city, offering spaces for interaction, dining, and relaxation, as well as areas for collaborative and focused work. The complex consists of two interconnected structures – a seven-storey, square main building and a striking tower. At its heart lies a central atrium, which is open to the public and serves as a hub for communication. Thanks to a modular, square grid, the building is composed of flexible usage units that can be individually adapted. All rooftop areas are designed for energy efficiency, featuring either green retention roofs or photovoltaic panels for power generation. The red facade blends harmoniously into the urban fabric of eastern HafenCity. Photos: Ditz Fejer
