Edithvale, Bonbeach, Chelsea Stations
As part of Melbourne’s Level Crossing Removal project, outdated and sometimes dangerous, level crossings are being removed and new rail stations are being planned. Safety is also to be improved and congestion reduced on the Frankston Line. 2022 the Edithvale, Chelsea and Bonbeach stations opend up. The new railway stations, designed by Cox Architects, are impressive, with modern technology, accessibility, improved mobility and a vibrant design. In keeping with the look and feel of the coastal region, sandstone-colored concrete skin panels were used for the facades of the three stations. The robust and only 13 mm thin glassfibre reinforced concrete elements have a number of technical advantages: They are lightweight, extremely durable and easy to handle during installation.
