Reinterpreting existing structures
Reinterpreting existing structures
Reinterpreting existing structures
The building envelope of the school building from the 1970s required comprehensive refurbishment with energy efficiency in mind. In addition to the renovation of the facades, windows and roofs, improving air quality and implementing a new sun protection system were also on the agenda. The interconnected building structures were brought up to date in three construction phases. The architects at pbs clad the outer shell with concrete skin panels in silvergrey. It was important that the large-size elements, which are only 13 mm thin, did not completely change the building’s appearance, but rather adapted to the existing structure and reinterpreted it in a modern way.
