The Sagamok First Nation, an Indigenous community in Canada, has a new school building. The architects at J.L. Richards have created a balance between cultural elements, traditions, and modern architecture. In designing the school, the architects engaged the local residents and focused on their needs. The result is a community school with a welcoming atmosphere. The children have everything they need under one roof – from classrooms and a gymnasium to direct access to nature for land-based learning, all in one place. Photos: Ditz Fejer
