With a total length of 130 kilometres, around 50 kilometres of tunnels and more than 100 bridges, the Koralmbahn ranks among Europe’s most significant infrastructure projects. The new connection between Styria and Carinthia establishes a fast and safe transport corridor in southern Austria. For the architectural design of several stations and operational buildings, the architectural firm Zechner & Zechner relied on Rieder’s durable, low-maintenance facade systems. The Koralmbahn’s Service Centre was equipped with Rieder elements, using over 800 m² of concrete skin panels. As a central service hub, the building fulfils key operational functions. The long-lasting facade solution not only supports efficient use but also contributes to a consistent architectural design along the southern route. In this way, the Service Centre integrates seamlessly into the overall concept of the Koralmbahn. Photos: Ditz Fejer
