Linear bands

The architects at Elkus Manfredi designed an additional building complex for the University of Chicago with numerous apartments and restaurants for students as well as staff. The floor plan was designed to encourage interaction between residents. More than 10,000 sqm of öko skin slats in silvergrey and sahara were used. The highlight: The architects beautifully accentuated the building envelope using the twine texture. Linear bands in different sizes playfully stretch across the panel lending the outer skin an exciting look. Thanks to the high degree of prefabrication at the Rieder plant, the project was completed quickly and independent of weather conditions, ensuring a high quality standard. Photos: Ditz Fejer
