Sustainable concept

The new Advanced Technology and Applied Science building in Mission Viejo combines modern learning facilities (such as visual, tactile and auditory processing) with creative thinking. Makerspaces stimulate students’ creativity and encourage independence. The design of the complex reflects the diverse curriculum, which ranges from architecture and computer technology to graphic design and marine biology. The courtyard serves as a social nexus and unites the different programmes. Parts of the facade were clad with öko skin slats in terracotta, making the sustainability aspect a central theme of the entire concept. The project was LEED Gold certified. Photos: Ditz Fejer
