Alpine cultural landscape reinterpreted

The architects at Forsthuber and Scheithauer designed the winning project of an EU-wide competition. On the adventure path from the car park to the entrance, the architects create different landscape themes inspired by the Alpine cultural landscape. Stone and water surfaces are reminiscent of scree and glacier moraines, and the thoroughfares have a gorge-like appearance. The grand path to the entrance area was clad with large concrete skin panels. A horizontal larch batten cladding was used on the rest of the facade. The National Park Centre houses an alpine experience world as well as research, documentation and event rooms. Photos: Mike Huber
